At Shore Junction, we believe in fostering the creative spirit, independence, and personal growth of young people. Our approach allows youth to engage freely and explore their interests without a rigid set structure. We understand the importance of trust, and our dedicated staff supervises and supports every step of the way. Safety remains a top priority, with clear protocols in place. We’ve seen how this approach empowers young people to discover their talents, build critical thinking skills, and take on responsibilities. We encourage open communication with parents, value your input, and welcome any questions or concerns you may have. With a flexible and nurturing environment, we’re committed to helping young people flourish.
We are extremely fortunate to have some amazing donors that contribute to running Shore Junction. We also apply for grants, as every other charity, does to fund our ongoing costs. We also receive support from the Devonport Takapuna Local board who provide ongoing support but also granted us the lease to the building.
We have an very efficient team who work well to make very dollar reach further and we are also fortunate to be the recipient of furniture and E-waste that we are able to up-cycle to fit out the building.
Absolutely, our normal open hours run during this time and we often have extra events occuring during this time like barista training, gaming days, and movie afternoons.

Shore Junction is a safe space for all young people and we try our best to make sure that everyone has a fun time. Often the first few times a young person comes into the building by themselves it can be overwhelming, and we understand that. This is why our youth workers are around to keep an eye on the young people and help them build connections. We also have some amazing youth leaders who are happy to include people in whatever they are doing. Board games and computer games are a great way to get everyone included.
